Quick answer
Choose the Suneater Illustrated Vault if you want a compact, elegant wooden case for up to three dice sets with custom etched artwork. Pick the Prismatic Cascade Vault if you prefer a hand-poured resin design that doubles as a rolling tray.
Storage capacity and dice size limits
The Suneater Illustrated Vault holds 2–3 standard dice sets and accommodates dice up to 28mm, making it slightly more generous for oversized or sharp edge dice. The Prismatic Cascade Vault accepts dice up to 25mm, which covers most standard polyhedral sets but may not fit larger specialty dice.
If you regularly carry multiple sets or own dice that exceed 25mm, the Suneater vault offers more flexibility. For a single set of standard-sized dice, the Prismatic Cascade Vault is perfectly adequate.
Design and materials
Both vaults use black walnut wood, but their aesthetic and construction differ. The Suneater Illustrated Vault features etched custom artwork and black velvet lining, giving it a classic, understated look. The Prismatic Cascade Vault incorporates hand-poured resin and felt-lined interiors, creating a more colorful, artisanal appearance.
The Prismatic Cascade Vault also offers a hexagonal option that holds one standard set and a rectangular option that holds up to three sets. This choice lets you match the vault shape to your storage preference.
Built-in rolling tray functionality
A key differentiator is that the Prismatic Cascade Vault's lid can be used as a rolling tray. This feature is convenient for players who want a compact, all-in-one solution for rolling and storage. The Suneater Illustrated Vault does not offer this functionality; its lid is purely decorative and protective.
If you frequently play on the go or at tables without a dedicated rolling surface, the Prismatic Cascade Vault saves you from carrying a separate tray. For home storage where a rolling tray is already available, the Suneater vault's simpler design may be sufficient.
Trade-offs at a glance
- Capacity vs. compactness: Suneater holds 2–3 sets; Prismatic Cascade holds 1 set (hexagonal) or up to 3 sets (rectangular). Choose based on how many dice you typically bring.
- Art style: Suneater features etched custom artwork and velvet lining. Prismatic Cascade uses hand-poured resin and felt lining. Pick the aesthetic that matches your taste.
- Rolling tray integration: Only the Prismatic Cascade Vault lid works as a rolling tray. If you need a portable rolling surface, this is a clear advantage.
