Discover what a Gelatinous Cube 7 pc Chonk Set is, its oversized design, and how to use it in tabletop gaming. Includes practical tips for handling 40-45mm dice.
Quick answer
The Gelatinous Cube 7 pc Chonk Set is an oversized, jello-green dice set with 3D printed bone inclusions, designed for tabletop gamers who want a dramatic, easy-to-read alternative to standard 25mm dice.
Why oversized dice matter for gameplay
Standard dice are 25mm, which can be hard to read across a table. Chonk dice, at 40-45mm, are about 2.5x larger, making rolls visible from a distance. This is especially useful for group games where everyone needs to see the result quickly.
The larger size also adds a tactile, satisfying heft when rolling, which some players prefer for immersion. However, they take up more space and may not fit standard dice trays.
Design and aesthetic appeal
The jello green color and translucent matte finish give the set a classic gelatinous cube look, popular in fantasy settings. The 3D printed bone inclusions add a thematic, slightly creepy detail that fits undead or dungeon-crawl campaigns.
This set is a conversation starter at the table, but its niche design may not suit every campaign theme. It's best for players who enjoy thematic accessories over minimalist dice.
Frequently asked questions
- What is included in the set?
- The set contains seven dice: D4 (crystal shape), D6, D8, D10, D%, D12, and D20. All are 40-45mm chonk size. You have a full dice set for most RPGs, but the D4 shape differs from standard.
- How does the size affect rolling?
- At 40-45mm, these dice are roughly 2.5x larger than standard 25mm dice. They are easier to read from across the table but may not fit in standard dice trays or rolling boxes. Plan for a larger rolling area if you buy this set.
- What is the material and finish?
- The dice have a jello green design with a matte finish and 3D printed bone inclusions. The exact material is not specified, but the matte finish reduces glare. The finish helps readability but may show wear differently than glossy dice.
- Is this set suitable for all tabletop games?
- Yes, it includes standard polyhedral dice used in games like D&D, Pathfinder, and other RPGs. However, the oversized size and thematic design may not match every game's tone. Works mechanically for any game, but aesthetic fit depends on your campaign.
- How does the price compare to standard dice?
- The catalog price is USD 102.86 (compared to USD 139.00), which is higher than a typical 25mm set due to the larger size and custom design. This is a premium purchase for enthusiasts who value size and theme.
Product highlights
- Gelatinous Cube 7 pc Chonk Set: This chonk dice set includes one D4 (Crystal shape), D6, D8, D10, D%, D12, and D20, all in 40-45mm size. You get a full polyhedral set for any RPG system, but the D4's crystal shape means it won't roll like a standard pyramid—something to consider if you rely on consistent D4 rolls.
